Sikhs secure in Kashmir: Micky
Jammu, Nov 10: Dispelling any threat to the security of Sikh community following alleged harassment incident at Hutmurah in Islamabad (Anantnag) district, Uplana in Baramulla and at Tral in Pulwama district, deputy chairman of the Legislative Council, S Amrinder Singh Micky on Wednesday said the community was living in perfect harmony with other communities.
“I personally visited the incident sites to get the first hand appraisal of the situation. During my meeting with the members of Sikh community they expressed satisfaction over their safety,” Micky told a news conference here.
He said members of the Sikh community were feeling absolutely safe and had full faith in their Muslim brethren and State administration.
Micky said that they have commended the role of majority community and the district administration in tackling the issues of such nature. “They (Sikhs) are living in the Valley for the past over two decades in complete harmony,” he said.
Micky said that he also met the Lt Gen N.C. Marwah GOC 15 Corps and apprised him about the incidents, who assured that investigation has already been initiated and report will be submitted within a week’s time and whosoever found involved will be brought to book.
