Soldier ends life

Srinagar: A soldier of 8 JAKLI rifles allegedly committed suicide at Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu, official sources said.
They said Constable Vikram Barman posted at Core Battle School, Bhalrah Bhaderwah shot himself dead with his service riffle yesterday.On hearing the gun shot, his colleagues rushed to the spot and found him lying in the pool of blood, they added.Sources said Army had ordered a court of Inquiry into the incident. (PBI)  

Hurriyat (M) concerned over detainees’ plight
Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) has expressed concern over the plight of pro-freedom detainees in different jails in and outside the Valley.In a statement, its spokesman alleged that the incarcerated leaders including Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Muzaffar Ahmad Yatoo alias Abdul Shakoor, Mian Abdul Qayoom, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, advocate G N Shaheen, Yasmeen Raja and Asiya Andrabi, who were suffering from different ailments, were being denied proper medical facilities in jails.He urged the international rights organizations to pressurize India to release these leaders before Eid-ul-Zuha. 

DIET Sgr holds orientation course
Srinagar: The DIET Srinagar has started four days orientation course on “School Management” for DDO’s (Headmasters) of all the schools of Srinagar on Wednesday.Principal DIET, Syed Aijaz Qalandar who inaugurated the course stressed the need of school management in present scenario.“In the 2nd phase Principals of higher secondary schools and ZEO’s of District Srinagar will be invited for participation in the course in near future,” a communiqué issued by DIET said adding another training programme of five days for development of TLM in Mathematics was also inaugurated by Principal DIET.

Srinagar: In connection with National Legal Services Day, a Lok Adalat was convened at Sadder Court, Srinagar under the Chairmanship of DLSA, Srinagar and supervision of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, B L Bhat.457 cases were taken up for settlement, out of which 63 cases were settled and Rs. 55 lakh was awarded as compensation in MACT cases and Rs. 23,000 was recovered in different criminal cases.
