Mirwaiz Umar hails peoples’ commitment
‘Don’t Prevent People From Offering Friday Prayers’
Srinagar, Nov 11: The chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Thursday hailed the unwavering association and commitment of Kashmiris with the movement despite facing tremendous atrocities.
Mirwaiz, while addressing a meeting of the AAC office-bearers and workers here expressed strong resentment over government preventing people from offering Friday prayers at historical Jamia Masjid in old city, for past eight consecutive Fridays and debarring others from assembling at several Masjids, Khankahas, Imambaras and shrines in the Valley.
He hailed Ulema for taking a strong note of government’s “interference in religious affairs.”
Mirwaiz made it clear to the party workers to be ready for execution of Fatwa being announced by the Ulema against the government if it again stopped people from offering Friday prayers on November 12, at Jamia Masjid and other Masjids.
Mirwaiz reiterated his demand for immediate and unconditional release of political and other detainees before Eid-ul-Zuha.
