Soz seeks time extension for IT returns

Srinagar, Nov 11: MP and former union minister Prof. Saifuddin Soz today said the Union Finance Ministry was considering extending the time for filing IT returns for taxpayers in Kashmir.
In a statement here today Soz, who is also president J&K Pradesh Congress Committee said on the persistent demands of taxpayers in Kashmir seeking extension in the time for filing IT returns, “I had taken up the matter with Union Finance Minister who in turn has informed through a letter (to me) that he is considering my proposal and a decision to this effect will be taken soon”.
He added: “Many tax payers in Kashmir and particularly the Income Tax Bar Association had approached me to seek extension of filing of Income Tax returns till the end of December 2010, due to the fact that the valley had remained in turmoil in recent months.”
