Department of Posts to hold contests
Srinagar, Nov 12: The Department of Posts is organizing ‘Design a Stamp Contest’ and ‘Letter Writing contest’ in connection with World Philatelic Exhibition 2011.
According to a PIB communiqué, the contests at Circle/State level will be held at Guru Gobind Singh Public HSS Kunjwani, Jammu on December 12. The contest will be for the school children in three categories, it said adding under category A (up to class V), the subject is ‘Save the Tiger’; under category B (class VI to VIII), the subject is ‘What steps you and your parents are taking to make your home more environment friendly’; under category C (class IX to XII), the subject is ‘What India can do to preserve the earth for future generations’.
The three best entries in each category will be given a cash award of Rs 5000, Rs 2500 and Rs 1000 respectively, it added.
The applications should be addressed to Assistant Director, Postal Services (Tech), o/o: Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle, Meghdoot Bhawan, Dogra Chowk, Jammu, PIB said adding the last date for receipt of entry was November 27.
The candidates will appear in the competitions at their own cost, it added.
