SKUAST To Host National Seminar On Saffron

Srinagar, Nov 12: The SK University of Agriculture Science and Technology (SKUAST) Kashmir is organizing a National Seminar on saffron on Nov 24-25 at SKICC, Srinagar.
The seminar is being organized by the University in collaboration with National Horticulture Board, New Delhi.
This was revealed by VC SKUAST-K Dr. Tej Partap during an interactive session with saffron farmers, while urging the latter to participate in the seminar.
On the occasion, Dr Partap stressed the need for market regulation for saffron and adoption of technologies for enhancing livelihood security in Kashmir.
The VC highlighted importance of organic saffron and desired farmers to work along those lines.
Director Research, Dr. A R Trag and Director Agriculture Kashmir Mian Majeed were also present.
Earlier, Dr. F A Nehvi, professor I/C KD Research Station gave a brief overview about the components of National Mission on Saffron.
The interactive session was participated by representatives of different areas of Tehsil Pampore and Chadoora who spoke on the occasion and highlighted problems related to conversion of land and lack of awareness of saffron at national level for quality standard.
