Comply with RTI provisions within a month: DC Rajouri to deptts
BGSBU Nominates PIO, APIO
Rajouri, Nov 1: The District Development Commissioner, Rajouri has asked all the departments to make arrangements within a month time to comply with RTI regulations and provisions such as appointment of Public Information Officers and Appellate Authority which is mandatory under JKRTI Act 2009.
The circular was issued after an RTI activist, Raman Sharma filed a complaint with the grievance cell that the government offices and Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University had not designated PIO and had not mentioned RTI Act on their official websites.
In the appeal before the JK grievance cell, the complainant had requested the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to direct the administration for proper implementation of the RTI Act.
Pursuing the directions of the administration, the authorities of BGSBU has designated Registrar, Muhammad Rashid Choudhary as PIO and Assistant Registrar has been assigned the task of Assistant Public Information Officer with immediate effect. The university website www.bgsbuniversity.org has also uploaded relevant information about the Act.
In another case, RTI activist Ayaz Mughal of Poonch also filed a complaint with the grievance cell complaining about non implementation of RTI Act in Poonch and defunct websites of the district administration Poonch.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, DC Poonch immediately issued directions and made required arrangements for up gradation of the website and mentioned RTI Act.
