Sheikh Hamid, Aali Kadal martrys remembered

Srinagar, Nov 19: The Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) have paid rich tributes to Shaheed-e-Hurriyat, Sheikh Abdul Hamid and other martyrs of Aali Kadal on their 18th anniversary observed on Friday.
 In a statement, JKLF chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik said they would always be remembered as the heroes of freedom struggle.
 Sheikh Abdul Hamid along with advocate Jamil Chowdhary, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, Mushtaq Ahmad Kotay, Ghulam Ahmad Ghulam, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Puppa Dar and Parvaiz Ahmad were martyred on this day at Aali Kadal, here in 1992 in the indiscriminate firing by the troopers.
 Addressing a memorial ceremony organized by the Front at Martyrs’ Graveyard, Eid Gah, here, Malik said Sheikh Abdul Hamid was one of the bravest sons of soil who never shunned the path of truth. “Hamid was humble and always ready to respect and follow his seniors. He will be remembered for his devotion and forging a unity among various thoughts and shades of opinions in the freedom camp,” he said, adding “along with Shaheed-i-Kashmir Ashfaq Majeed Wani, Hameed laid down the foundation of present struggle and this valued son of our nation continued his struggle till he attained martyrdom.”
 Malik also paid tributes to Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, saying that his steadfastness and passion for an independent Kashmir was inspiring. Paying tributes to Advocate Jamil Chowdry, Yasin said, “Jamil was from PaK and gave up his carrier and fought along with other JKLF people in Kashmir and attained martyrdom.”
 Malik also paid tributes to Shaheed Fayaz, Shaheed Mushtaq, Shaheed Manzoor and Shaheed Ghulam Muhammad.
 He said, “These martyrs sacrificed their today for the betterment of our tomorrow and now it is our duty to follow their footprints and keep on our struggle till mission is accomplished.”
 After the programme Malik and others went to the houses of martyrs to show solidarity with their families.
 Meanwhile, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) chairman Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karatey and other leaders reiterated the pledge to take the martyrs’ mission to its logical end.
 Front leaders including its chairman, Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karatey, senior vice-chairman, Javid Ahmad Mir, Tahir Ahmad Mir, Rasakh Khursheed Dar, Wajahat Qureshi, Shafa’at Shingloo, Haroon Kashmiri, Husni Mubarak and Muhammad Rafiq Bhat spoke at a function organized by it (Front) at Eid Gah here in the memory of Sheikh Abdul Hamid and other martyrs. Hundreds of Front leaders, members and activists participated in the function.
 Special prayers and floral tributes were offered on the occasion.
 Meanwhile, Front also organized a condolence meeting at is central office Barbar Shah here where special prayers were offered for the Aali Kadal martyrs.
