JK ADMAS Lab earns laurels

Srinagar, Nov 20: The performance of Animal Diseases Monitoring and Surveillance (ADMAS) unit of Jammu and Kashmir, which was established with the assistance of ICAR, has been hailed during the 18th annual scientists meet of the All India Coordinated Research Project on ADMAS at Bangalore on November 12-13.
According to a report, the work of J&K ADMAS lab was appreciated by Dr S Ayappa, DG, ICAR during the meet on November 12-13.
The presentation made by the state representative Dr F A Jan on use of Epi-Info software in animal diseases monitoring and forecasting was adjudged best by the leading luminaries of ICAR which included Dr K M L Pathak, DDG ICAR, Dr Gaya Prasad, ADG & Dr K. Prabudas, Project Director, Project, ADMAS.
The J&K unit has successfully done the disease mapping of economically important diseases of livestock through a CDC, Atlanta developed software named Epi-Info.
Project Director Dr K Prabudas said that he was satisfied with the performance of J&K Unit as out of 17 participating states in the study only J&K unit had fully utilized the software for mapping and epidemiological analysis of the diseases.
He hoped the unit would make significant contribution in controlling various diseases of livestock in the state.
