RBP scheme inaugurated

Budgam, Nov 20: Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry and IT, Aga Syed Rohulla Mehdi inaugurated Rural Backyard Poultry (RBP) scheme of Animal Husbandry Department at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall Budgam here today. A large number of poultry and sheep rearers of the district attended the function. District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Muhammad Rafi, Director Animal Husbandry, Kashmir and Joint Director Sheep Husbandry also attended the function. Rohulla highlighted various schemes of both the departments and impressed upon the farmers to come forward and avail maximum benefits from various these schemes. The farmers also appreciated the departments for their cooperation. On this occasion, the Minister distributed cheques among the BPL beneficiaries identified under Rural Backyard Poultry Scheme. Under the scheme 1443 BPL families of district Budgam are to be benefited in the district during 2010-11 and each family will be provided with 45 one month old chicks free of cost in addition to cash amount of Rs. 750 each for construction of night shelter for these chicks.
