Hyderabad, Nov 20: Naba Kumar Sarkar alias Swami Asimanand, who was arrested by the CBI for his alleged involvement in the 2007 Makkah Masjid blast here, was today produced before a local court which sent him in judicial remand till November 30.
Swami Asimanand was arrested by the CBI yesterday in Haridwar in connection with the blast at the Makkah Masjid on May 18, 2007, which left 9-persons dead.
He was flown in from Delhi and brought to Nampally Criminal Court here amid tight security with his face covered and produced before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.
Later, the CBI moved two applications for sending him to judicial custody and another one seeking his custody for 15 days.
The magistrate asked the Swami if he had any advocate to represent himself and also sought his reaction on the CBI plea for his police custody, after which the Swami said he had full faith in the investigating agency and that he had not appointed any advocate to argue his case.
"I have no objection for either the judicial remand or police custody," the Swamy said after which the magistrate sent him to judicial remand till November 30.
The magistrate further asked Swami whether he would like to appoint a lawyer to defend himself in the case or he would like to have a government advocate? Swami gave his nod for government advocate.
