Srinagar, Nov 21: Despite a ban on the polythene bag usage, the menace has resurfaced in the summer capital. This is what the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand who is currently in Srinagar, has observed during his City tour.
 An official handout said the Minister directed Srinagar Municipal Corporation “to ensure to check re-emergence of polythene menace in Srinagar city.”
 Tara observed that last year it was “successfully brought to zero percent usage.”
 He also said that “polythene stock which reaches Srinagar goes from here to other towns of the Valley which should be stopped on the check points as it is banned under government orders.”
 He was informed in the meeting that Gulmarg and Pahalgam Municipal Authorities have ensured to make these zones as zero polythene zones.
 The Deputy Chief Minister directed all the executive officers of the towns to gear up their activities in these directions and ensure to make their town zero polythene zones.
 “The busses, Sumos and other tipper/trucks through which it is brought from Srinagar to other towns should be kept under scanners for effective implementation of polythene order,” the Minister has said.
