Geelani condemns Kishtwar killing

Srinagar, Nov 21: Condemning the civilian killing in Kishtwar, Hurriyat (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani termed it the worst case of ‘state terrorism.’
In a statement, Geelani said the killing of a farmer in Kishtwar had ridiculed the claims of government about decrease in the human rights violations in the State.
Expressing resentment over the crackdown on pro-freedom activists, Geelani asked the people to resist and protest the arrests. He said the people shouldn’t behave as mute spectators and should stage protests whenever Army or police makes any arrest.
Geelani also questioned the Sopur encounter in which police claimed to have killed a militant. Quoting eyewitnesses, Geelani said the youth was killed allegedly after being arrested.
