Winter-wears see great demand in Sunday Market
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Nov 21: With winters approaching fast, the Sunday Market today witnessed huge customer rush for woollen garments and winter-wears.
Customers in large numbers could be seen at makeshift stalls in the Sunday Market looking for jerseys, winter-wears, woollens, blankets, heavy curtains, socks, etc.
“There is a huge demand for the woollens and winter wears. Since morning I have received scores of customers,” said Jan Muhammad, a Sunday Marketer.
He said with Valley witnessing cool atmosphere nowadays, “people want to purchase good amount of jerseys and woollen wears ahead of winter.”
However, many vendors said the rush was mainly because the Sunday Market had now been ‘a few and far between activity.’
“We lost almost entire summer season to the continued strikes and curfews. Now it is just few Sundays that we have been able to open this market. So naturally there is huge rush,” said Nazir Ahmad, a vendor.
He added if the Market had operated smoothly without brakes, “you would see the general rush.”
The vendors said that there was huge demand for goods like jerseys, winter-wears, woollens, blankets, heavy curtains, socks, electric blankets, woollen coats, over-coats, etc.
“The winter is just ahead. Past few years’ experience has shown that winters now prove very harsh. So it is good, if we get our hands on some goods that can prove handy and helpful in the winters,” said Altaf Ahmad, a customer.
