Government must not gag public voice
This refers to the news “JK militants, Naxals linked: Omar.” I don’t think there is any possibility of that. Firstly the two are fighting for different a cause. Also, Arundhati Roy, who is a Maoist sympathizer, has not done anything wrong by holding a seminar in Kashmir. If India claims to be a democracy, then she must have a big heart to accommodate different viewpoints. The Jammu and Kashmir government, led by Omar Abdullah, must understand the importance of giving room for certain amount of dissent so that the youth are not pushed to the wall. By allowing youth to express themselves, it will score a point and not lose anything. By repressing people and subjecting them to different kinds of torture, the state may face a backlash any time. It is not possible to strangulate all the voices one time. So it is better if the state government doesn’t resort to repression.
