Passenger tax enhanced

Jammu, Nov 22: Government has enhanced the passenger tax being realized from various types of transport vehicles, across the state.
 Sources said that the state cabinet approved the proposal of finance ministry that the passenger tax be enhanced. “The government was realizing Rs 700 crore as passenger tax”, sources said adding that with the enhancement of the tax, under this category, the revenue realization per year would be doubled (Rs 1400 crore).
 The new tax slab would be implemented from January 1, 2010.
