Lal Bazar, vicinity without bus service

SYED IMRAN ALI HAMDANI

Srinagar, Nov 27: A vast area in Lal Bazar, Baghwan Pora and Hawal belt is without public transport facility due to which the residents have to face severe inconvenience.
The residents of the areas including Baghwanpora Lal Bazar, Hakeem Mohalla, Malik Bagh, Ahmada Kadal, Wani Mohalla, Zaji Mohalla, Jogiwan Ahmada Kadal, Gulshan Bagh Botta Kadal, Badamwari Hawal have to walk a considerable distance of over a mile to get a bus.
A Baghwanpora resident, Syed Muhammad Mosvi, a father of three kids said: “My children are too young to walk over a mile on foot so I had no options but to hire an auto for their travel to school on regular basis.”
Mosvi said a considerable portion of his earning goes waste on auto-rickshaw fares. “But then we have no other options,” he argued.
Similar were the views of Shahbaz Hussain Beigh of  Bilalya.
Aged Farooq Ahmad Dar of GulshaBagh, Badamwari had more to add.
“I have to go for regular medical check-ups…But I can’t do without hiring auto-rickshaw.”
Due to the non-availability of bus service many even plan to migrate from there.
The residents have to suffer even though the Regional Transport Officer had issued bus route permits for the area.
But the RTO Muhammad Anees said the bus service was stopped due to bad road conditions.
“Some drainage and other work was going on there so the bus service was halted… Once the roads get repaired we will ask the operators to resume the service,” the RTO told Greater Kashmir.
