13 yrs on, Govt fails to issue seniority list of horticulture deptt
SHEIKH NAZIR
Ganderbal, Nov 29: Despite orders of the General Administrative Department, the government has not released the seniority list of gazetted cadre officers of Department of Horticulture (Planning and Marketing) for the past 13 years.
The last seniority list was released in 1997 vide order No 298/Agri of 1997 dated May 2, 1997 paving way for the promotion of a number of officers.
“The department is in dire need of officers whose posts are vacant,” a senior officer in the department said.
They said the government was not following GAD’s orders, which had directed release of the seniority list every year on January 1.
The Department of Horticulture (Planning & Marketing) has a number of vacant posts throughout the State both at the district and Tehsil level which include Area Marketing Officers and Assistant Grading and Marketing Officers.
The concerned aggrieved officers have till now approached the Principal Secretary APD, but till date nothing has been done in this regard, the officers said and sought the intervention of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah in this regard.
Agriculture Production Department Principal Secretary, Iqbal Khanday told Greater Kashmir that he doesn’t know anything about the issue.
Meanwhile, Minister of Horticulture, Sham Lal Sharma when contacted said that they had already expedited the process regarding the issuance of the list. “I am presently out of station and therefore, couldn’t tell the exact time as and when the list will come out”, he said.
