Iqbal Sports wins Mushtaq Memorial football tourney

Jammu, Nov 29: Iqbal Sports on Monday lifted the 12th edition of the J&K Police Memorial Football Tournament outplaying Rail Coach Factory (RCF) Kapurthala 5-3 in tie-breaker in the final played at MA Stadium, here.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah was the chief guest who gave away winners and runners-up trophies. He was accompanied by the Director General of J&K Police, Kuldeep Khoda.
About the game, in the stipulated time the match ended in goalless draw thereby forcing the organizers to straightway go for tie-breaker to decide the fate of the final.
From winners, Iqbal Sports, Faizal, Adil, Shamim, Rizwan and Imran successfully netted the ball to guide their side to a big win.
Earlier, scheduled to be held at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar on June 29, the final was pending for the last five months because of turmoil in Valley. Since, Civil Secretariat moves to the Winter Capital Jammu, the final was re-scheduled for today by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
In all, 34 teams from within the state and outside took part in this tournament held on knock-out basis and Iqbal Sports and RCF Kapurthala reached the final.
The final was witnessed by host of senior officers, members of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) and football fans.
