Stock timber by Dec 15: Mian Altaf to officers

.Srinagar, Nov 3: The Minister for Forests and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad has impressed upon the forest authorities to ensure stocking of timber by December 15, at all the depots across the valley so that people get timber for construction purposes without any inconvenience.

 The minister while addressing high level officers meet here said that officers should redouble their efforts for the protection of forests. The meeting was told that 7.20 lakh cft timber out of the target of 12.62 lakh cft has been already stocked of which one lakh cft of timber has been dumped by SFC.

 The Minister was informed that 2.30 lakh cft of timber has been stocked in north circle, three lakh cft in Srinagar circle while two lakh cft of timber has so far been dumped in south circle depots. In addition, 4000 quintals and 7000 quintals of fire wood has been stocked in Leh and Kargil districts respectively. Besides, SFC has stocked 60000 cft and 18387 cft of timber in Leh and Kargil districts respectively for recent flood victims.
