Give justice to anti-Sikh riot victims: Geelani
Srinagar, Nov 4: The Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Thursday expressed solidarity with the Sikh community on the death anniversary of those who were massacred after the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984.
“I express solidarity with the Sikh community on humanitarian ground. On one hand, India is projecting itself as one of largest democracy and on the other had it had denied justice to the Sikhs for over 26 years” he said in a statement.
Geelani said despite indictment and pronouncement of sentences by Court, the accused are yet to be punished. He said though some committees and commission were established. “However, they failed to deliver justice. The Dal Khalsa had last year knocked the doors of United Nations but it too failed to give them justice. We as victims of Indian oppression fully support the Sikh community in their fight for justice. We are supporting the Sikh community as we can’t tolerate any sort of human rights violations in any place in the World,” he said.
Geelani expressed gratitude to the Sikh community for lending support to the ongoing movement of Kashmiris.
