Curfew In City Parts Today

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Nov 4: Life resumed to normal across Kashmir Valley on Thursday as Hurriyat Conference (G) called off the strike for two days as per the protest calendar. Police has also lifted curfew and all sorts of restrictions from across the Valley.
In the summer capital here, shops, businesses, banks, offices, courts and educational institutions opened while the public and private transport also plied normally on all routes of the Valley.
However, in several areas of the city, especially downtown, police and CRPF remained deployed on most of the streets and roads.
As a routine in the recent past, the entry points to the city witnessed massive traffic jams while the city centre also witnessed choking traffic snarls throughout the day.
A police spokesman said law and order situation in the Valley remained peaceful.
“There were no reports of any untoward incident from anywhere in the Valley,” he said.
“Also curfew and restrictions have been lifted from all parts of the Valley.”
The Hurriyat has also called off the strike on Friday on the request of Sikh community when they will be observing Diwali.
However, the conglomerate has asked people to enforce civil curfew from November 6-9 when US president, Barack Obama will be on his maiden visit to India.

Meanwhile, authorities have decided to impose curfew at Maisuma, Kralkhud, Batmaloo, Qammerwari, Safa Kadal, Maharaj Gunj, Khanyar, Rainawari, except road leading to Chatipadshahi, and Nowahata areas, a police spokesman said.
