Farmers'Welfare Fund launched

Srinagar, Nov 5: State Government has initiated several programmes for the uplift of people living in urban and rural areas of the State by launching several schemes in Agriculture, horticulture, apiculture and sericulture sectors.
This, according to an official statement, was disclosed by the Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir, today after launching Farmers Welfare Fund for Silk rearers at Tangmarg block.
Around fifty progressive farmers of silk rearing of the block attended the function. He said that welfare fund of Rs 10 lakhs was created during current year to support those farmers whose silk cocoon crop got damaged due to natural calamity.
Mir hoped that by virtue of launch of Welfare Fund, cocoon production will increase. Agriculture Minister advised farmers to take part in other Agriculture activities which will increase their income. He said farmers should take benefits from the various developmental schemes launched by State Govt.
On this occasion, the Minister distributed cheques among the farmers of silk rearers whose crop was damaged due to natural calamity.
