Emergency healthcare
This refers to the article "After all it is a question of human life” by Dr. Amin Tabish. He deserves all appreciation for writing such an informative and comprehensive article on Emergency Medical Services. The Government of Jammu and Kashmir should act upon the recommendations made in the article. Scores of deaths could be prevented if such a system is in put in place. It is not only the injury but other emergencies like intestinal obstruction, heart failure, shock, difficult pregnancy could be dealt with, in all rural and urban areas. There are so many maternal deaths that could be avoided. Lot of children who die because of non-availability of timely medical attention could be salvaged.
I have stayed in Singapore and seen their Emergency System which is superb. Why can't we have it here? Why is it that the Government is not serious about this kind of health care delivery? It won’t cost much. Even if it costs a lot, government must focus on providing such a facility to the people. Let’s hope the government acts.
