Militant killed in Sopur, gunfight on in Bandipore
Srinagar: Police on Sunday said it killed a militant in north Kashmir Sopur town.
“Ikrama alias Topiwalla was killed while Showkat Ahmad, who was acting as his guide was apprehended by troops of Rashtriy Rifles and police who had laid an ambush in Lathishat forests in Bomai area of Sopur, challenged them,” police said.
GUNFIGHT IN BANDIPORE
A gunfight between militants and troopers broke out in Bandipore on Sunday, police said.
“Troops cordoned off he Aham Sharief area in the upper reaches of Bandipore this morning and launched searches. Militants present there opened fire on the search party which was retaliated triggering a gunfight,” a police officer said.
Encounter was on when reports last came in.
