Altaf chairs CAMPA review meeting

Rs 20.94 Cr works under execution in JK

Srinagar, Oct 12: Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, Mian Altaf Ahmed on Tuesday chaired a review meeting of Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA), an official spokesman said.
 He said during the meeting it was disclosed that Steering Committee of CAMPA has approved an outlay of Rs 20.90 crores, of which an amount of Rs 15.21 crores has been released to 24 forest divisions of the state.
 These CAMPA funds were released to the Divisional Forest Officers for afforestation, soil conservation, infrastructural development, fire protection, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation and for others works. It was further disclosed that targets to the tune of 51 percent have been achieved so far.
 Addressing the meeting Altaf emphasized on expediting  the works under close supervision of the controlling officers strictly as per the operational guidelines of the CAMPA. He stressed upon frequent touring and monitoring of field works by the senior officers at all concerned areas of the state.
 An Animal conflict resolution project for wildlife development was also discussed during the meeting and it was decided that this project should be placed before the steering committee of CAMPA for clearance.
 Altaf asked officers to complete the ongoing works in a stipulated time frame and ensure quality of works. He issued all necessary instruction to the officers present in the meeting to gear up their developmental activities in their respective areas and cut delays in this behalf.
