Srinagar, Oct 12: Minister for CAPD and Transport, Qamar Ali Akhoon today inaugurated a departmental godown constructed at a cost of Rs 2.75 crore at Lethpora near here.
 Addressing the employees and workers of CAPD department on the occasion, the Minister stressed for installing electronic weighing machines in all Government sale outlets and displaying rate lists for food commodities and supply position for ensuring transparency in the distribution system.
 He said that government has re-fixed 40 Kg rice scale per ration card and this has to be ensured.
 The Minster also visited Mir Bazar in Islamabad and inspected the FCI godown. He was informed that during the current month the FCI has issued 29,170 metric tones of rice, 1348 MTs of wheat and 543 MTs sugar in the Valley. The Corporation has the reserve stock of 16,430 MTs rice, 3457 Mts wheat and 1631 MTs sugar at present.
 The Minister was further informed that the FCI has already dispatched 9,477 MTs of rice, 10136 MTs wheat and 800 MTs sugar to Leh and 6,302 MTs of rice and 586 MTS of sugar to Kargil district which is a sufficient stock up to July 2011.
 The Minister appreciated the performance of the FCI and asked them to ensure buffer stock of the essentials to meet the requirements during the winter months.
 Earlier, the Minister also visited Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Bottling Plant at Pampore and took stock of the stock position of LPG cylinders.
 The Minister was apprised that the Corporation has a stock of 32,000 packed LPG cylinders and adequate quantity of bulk stock to meet the winter requirements. He was apprised that presently the Corporation has a storage capacity of 1400 MTs of LPG.
 The work on the construction of additional storage plant will be completed in June- July next year with the construction of this plant, the Corporation will have the total storing capacity of 2120 MTs of LPG.
