Srinagar, Oct 12: Minister for Medical Education RS Chib Tuesday gave a nod for the procurement of a new CT Scan machine at SMHS during his surprise visit to City hospitals. He also directed for two lanning of the B&J Hospital, Barzulla road.
 “Minister granted permission for procurement of new CT Scan Machine in SMHS hospital and asked Principal GMC to install the equipment as early as possible to facilitate the patients,” an official handout said.
 It said the Minister also enquired about the welfare of patients under treatment in these hospitals and took stock of the facilities with regard to supply of medicines, diet and necessary equipments being provided.
 A meeting of officers of GMC, Srinagar and associated hospitals was held in GMC under the Chairmanship of the Minister. The meeting discussed threadbare the problems being faced by doctors, paramedics and hospital administration and suggested measures to solve them.
 The Minister patiently listened to the grievances of paramedics and assured that their genuine problems would be addressed in a phased manner, the handout added.
 Chib “cautioned the officials to maintain discipline and work with responsibility”.
 The Minister accompanied by MD, JKPCC, Taseen Mustafa, Principal, GMC, Srinagar  Dr Shahida Mir and Medical Superintendent visited LD hospital and took overall view of Rs 16 Crore project of additional block of 200 -bedded hospital, under construction.
 He gave on-the-spot instruction for demolition of dilapidated building of erstwhile Children Hospital. He directed for shifting OPD of LD hospital to the ground floor of newly `upgraded 200 -bedded hospital.
 The Minister also visited B&J Hospital Barzulla and directed JKPCC authorities to construct double-lane for the hospital by widening existing approach, so that the trauma patients visiting the hospital are facilitated.
