KVIB sponsors 5000 cases to banks

Srinagar, Oct 13: Minister for Industries and Commerce, S S Slathia has underscored the need for putting in coordinated efforts to properly implement different schemes launched for the welfare of people.
The Minister was addressing 97th meeting of board of Directors, J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB). “By undertaking frequent field visits, the decisions of Board meetings could be executed in letter and spirit”, he observed.
Salathia urged upon the officers to make the subordinate officers dealing with loan cases accountable and maintain cent percent transparency in the day to day functioning of all offices. He said before finalizing viable projects proper funding must be ensured to avoid the collapse of the project in midway.   
The Minister said that honest officers will be encouraged and non performing shown door, adding that Government was serious to improve work culture and ensure achieving set target timely. He said the issues of the Board have already been taken up with KVIC, expressing the hope of positive results.
Secretary KVIB S Ravinder Singh informed the meeting about the achievements of the Board during the previous years.
He said the Board has sponsored about 5000 cases under PMEGP following clearance by the District Level Task Force Committees (DLTPC) to different banks for sanction of credit  up to end of August this year.
Against this 3124 cases stand cleared by these banks and accordingly 2775 cases have been forwarded to the Nodal Banks for release of margin money. He said Rs.2.85 crores have been released by the KVIC to the different Nodal Banks with direction to clear the pending cases forthwith.
He informed the meeting that during this period the Board has generated 26386 employment opportunities.  He said the Board has organized one State Level Exhibition at Jammu, two District level Exhibitions at Islamabad and Varmul, and twelve District Level awareness camps for the awakening of beneficiaries / artisans.
It was impressed upon the Secretary to come up with concrete proposals for giving fillip to the working of the Board. He was also asked to undertake exercise in January 2011 for formulation of annual plan for next fiscal to avoid delays in the execution of various schemes.
On the introduction of Market  Development Assistance Schemes for Khadi and Polyvastra in place of Previous Rebate Scheme, the Board observed that the proposal be submitted to the Administrative Department for examination so that the case is  decided after consultation with the Planning Department  in regard to funding provision. About delegation of powers  to different levels of officers in incurring day to day expenditure, the Board asked the Secretary KVIB to submit the proposal for examination and consideration.
With regard to other Administrative matters relating to promotion and Pension Schemes, the Board authorizes the Secretary to settle the cases in accordance with the standing Government instructions/ norms.
