Malik, ors held in Sumbal
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Oct 15: Police on Friday arrested the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik near Sumbal in north Kashmir, a JKLF spokesman said.
He said Malik, was on way to Sonawari in Bandipore district. He was scheduled to address a gathering there and express solidarity with the families whose kith and kin fell to the bullets during the ongoing unrest.
Despite Malik and his other associates being arrested a few JKLF activists, including Professor Javaid and Syed Nisar Jeelani, managed to address a gathering at Naid Kahia while Showkat Ahmad Dar addressed a gathering at Hajan. People at both the places staged protests against Malik’s arrest, the spokesman said.
He condemned Malik’s arrest and other JKLF activists. “Such arrests have become a routine and entire state has been turned into police state,” he alleged.
The JKLF chairman in the recent past has been arrested on many occasions. “Every possible effort has been made to stop him from reaching out to bereaved families in different areas,” he added.
