Mirwaiz seeks British intervention to stop bloodshed

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Oct 19: The Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has urged the Britain to intervene to stop violence and bloodshed in the Kashmir Valley.
At a meeting with two British diplomats in Srinagar, Mirwaiz hoped the country would use its influence and initiate steps at the diplomatic level on the issue of "violation of human rights".
“Hurriyat favoured meaningful and result-oriented talks on Kashmir,” Mirwaiz told first secretary (political) in the British high commission in New Delhi, Victoria L Whitford, and second political secretary in the UK mission in Islamabad, Sharon McDonald. “But the amalgam would not be part of any exercise or the process which was aimed at keeping the issue lingering,” Mirwaiz said.
The Hurriyat executive members Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat and Khawaja Bilal Gani Lone were also present at meeting.
The Hurriyat leaders apprised the diplomats of the worsening situation in Kashmir.
