Trooper dies, another injured

Srinagar, Oct 19: An Army trooper was killed in an accidental firing while another was critically injured in a landmine explosion in Uri sector of Varmul district in north Kashmir, official sources said Tuesday.
Sepoy Ram Prasad, posted with 7 Rashtriya Rifles, was killed when his service rifle accidentally went off when he was cleaning it at Rampur camp near Uri town, 90 kms from here, on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road last night, the sources said.
They said another army trooper was injured when he stepped on a mine laid outside his camp at Silikote, 100 kms from here, near the Line of Control (LOC) this afternoon.
The injured trooper, identified as Sepoy Arun Kumar, was shifted to a military hospital in a critical condition, the sources said.
