Dy CM reviews Dal works

Srinagar, Oct 20: Deputy Chief Minister,  Tara Chand on Wednesday inspected development works of Dal Lake, an official handout said.
 “During the inspection, functioning of weed cutter machines, pace of civil works and other beautification projects undertaken for conservation of Dal and its surroundings were reviewed,” it added.
 Tara was accompanied by Commissioner/Secretary Housing & Urban Development,  Suresh Kumar, Director Local Bodies, Kashmir Khawaja Farooq Renzu Shah, Vice Chairman LAWDA, Irfan Shah and other senior officers and engineers of Housing and concerned departments.
 The LAWDA VC gave resume of various works undertaken for protection of world famous water body.
 “He informed that since April this year as much as 80,000 cubic meters de-weeding, 12000 cubic meters dredging and 40,000 square meters lilly/Radhs extraction has been carried out,” the handout said.
 Tara while inspecting civil works undertaken around Dal said that the “work on prestigious parapet wall has been started after a span of 40 years to further enhance glamour and landscaping around the famous Dal Lake.”
  He directed the concerned engineers to immediately repair the wall wherever it has been damaged and stressed on undertaking immediate repairs of viewpoints.
 The wall is extended around the Lake from SKICC to Nishat Garden and from Ishber area to Naseem Bagh.
 The Deputy Chief Minister asked LAWDA authorities to install illumination points on the entire road along Dal to further enhance its charm and unique ambience.
