Transparent investigation
This refers to the news “CoI to enlist eyewitnesses, accused.” It is earnestly hoped that the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) would punish the policemen and troopers involved in the gruesome killing of civilians. One really baffles to understand why the state government is not empowering the CoI to probe all the 111 killings. So far the probes have not yielded any results, though they have been ordered in abundance in the past 20 years. This time however, people have pinned their hopes on the CoI which seems to be working in the right direction. The CoI must ensure that witnesses are protected and provided adequate security, if needed. At the same time, people must come forward and identify the guilty cops so that it becomes easy for the CoI to recommend their punishment. Hope the state government doesn’t pressurize the CoI at any moment in time during the probe. Let there be transparent investigation.
