Srinagar, Oct 20: Life returned to normal across the Valley for a day Wednesday as per the protest calendar of Hurriyat Conference (G) even as authorities lifted curfew from all the four districts of Valley today.
All shops, business and commercial establishments, private and government offices, educational institutions, banks and courts opened normally today. All modes of transport were operating on all routes in the city and other inter-district routes.
In summer capital, the marketplaces were abuzz with people. The heavy rush resulted in the traffic snarls at several places including TRC, Lal Chowk, Residency road, Batamaloo, Qamarwari and Panthachowk.
Banks and ATMs witnessed extra-ordinary rush during the day.
Similar reports poured in from the other districts and towns of the Valley.
Meanwhile, a day after the clashes between police and protesters, in which several persons including several police officials were injured, tension was palpable in north Kashmir’s Varmul town today.
Protests broke out near Cement Bridge this morning which continued for several hours. Police used force to disperse the protesters.
The markets remained closed and the traffic remained suspended till noon. However, normalcy returned to the area after protests subsided.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that curfew and restrictions were completely lifted across Valley this morning.
“Situation at this hour is normal and under control throughout Kashmir Valley. There are no reports of any un-toward incident reported from any place,” the spokesman said.
