2 decades on, Guzarwaan lane awaits blacktopping
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Oct 21: Guzarwaan Lane, a approach road to Gupkar Road near Government Girls Higher Secondary school Palpora, Sonwar is in a bad condition for the past nearly two decades.
The residents said the macadamization of the road has not been taken up since the eruption of turmoil in the Kashmir in early ‘90s.
“The road is in a dilapidated condition. We the residents of Palpora especially those living on either sides of this lane have time and again approached many higher ups for the repairs of the drain and the road but hardly received any favourable response,” said a delegation of locals lead by Saqib Latief Bhat.
“Last year,” the residents said, “Some minor repairs were made by way metalling.”
“But most of the Bajri has been washed away by the rains and snow which flows from Karan Mahal, Gupkar Road to our lane,” the residents said.
They said if immediate repairs weren’t made the road would turn worst in coming winter.
“The bad road is creating various hardships, especially for the children and the old aged people,” the locals said adding many were injured when they slipped on the slippery road.
They said “We request the concerned authorities especially Chief Engineer/Executive Engineer, R&B Department to kindly take up the macdamisation of the road at an earliest so that we don’t not suffer any more.”
