Kashmir issue

This refers to the news “Ready to engage with India on Kashmir: Pak.” It is good to see Pakistan making such a statement. India has always claimed that Pakistan was not serious toward the resolution of the Kashmir dispute, though the latter has always talked about the urgency to resolve it. Earlier Pakistan raised the Kashmir issue with the United Nations and now it has publicly extended support to Kashmiris. It is the moral responsibility of Pakistan to extend moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris at this crucial juncture when the Valley is witnessing a crisis of sorts. Over 100 civilians have been killed in Kashmir in the past five months. Nobody is bothered about the families who lost these dear ones. Everyone is playing politics in whatever the way they can. The separatist leaders never see the affected families, except once or twice. The killers roam free as the state is unable to punish them. It just orders probes. In such a situation, it is important that a country like Pakistan pitches for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute ahead of US President Barrack Obama’s visit to India next month.
