POLICE THRASH HEADMASTER
ALTAF BABA
Varmul, Oct 21: Policemen allegedly beat up a headmaster in this north Kashmir district on Thursday after he refused to handover the attendance record to them.
Witnesses told Greater Kashmir that a police party barged into Government Middle School Bakhipora this morning and ordered the headmaster to show them the attendance record. “The headmaster refused to follow their diktats and asked them to show him the order. His refusal infuriated the cops and they thrashed him mercilessly,’ witnesses added.
As the word about the incident spread villagers rushed to the spot and tried to catch the erring policemen. However, they fled away from the spot.
The headmaster of the Govt Middle School said: “We were in classrooms when around seven policemen entered in to the school and started misbehaving and thrashed me.”
The President Teachers Forum Varmul Muhammad Rafiq Rather said that Forum had taken up the matter with the higher police officials. “We have been assured that erring policemen will be punished,” he added.
Pertinently, the Minister for Education Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed had recently issued an order asking police and forces not to enter the schools during working hours.
