Bereaved family fears hush-up in Hazratbal hit-and-run
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Oct 23: The family of Nighat Shari who was crushed to death last week by car in Hazratbal area on Saturday accused the police of deliberately delaying the investigations to save the accused.
“The investigation in the case is going at snail’s pace and they(police) knew the real culprit, but are shielding him and didn’t even handover copy of FIR to us for three days... It was only after we approached higher-ups that they gave us the copy yesterday,” the family said.
After hit by red Zen on the fateful day, Nighat lost battle with life at SKIMS Soura on 18th October.
But police denied the charges. “We are investigating the matter,” SP Hazratbal Maqsood-ul-Zaman told Greater Kashmir.
