` 27 cr project awaits union finance ministry nod

Srinagar, Oct 23: In what could open the way for state treasuries to go hi-tech, J&K Finance Department has conceived a ` 27 crore integrated plan for computerization of treasuries through Mission Mode Project. The project is to be approved by the union Ministry of Finance under National E- Governance programme.
 Besides, the state is also planning to upload a new treasury software namely Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS), which is in final stage of development through the sate unit of NIC.
 In the first phase, according to a statement issued by the government today, eleven treasuries— six in Kashmir and five in Jammu division – would be fully computerized during the current fiscal.
 Meanwhile, the treasuries have been instructed to strictly observe fiscal discipline, follow codal formalities and avoid payments exceeding budget allocations.
 Besides, the treasury officers have been asked to maintain the budget control register.
 Meanwhile, the government has regularized about 700 promotions including 202 gazetted and 431 non gazetted.
 The treasury officers have been informed that the Red DC bills amounting to about ` 1900 corer have not been submitted to the office of Principal Accountant General as yet.
