MUGHAL ROAD IN POWER TROUBLE

Local’s narrow escape in transmission line snap

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Oct 25:  Umer Colony, Lal Bazar resident had a narrow escape Monday morning when a transmission line snapped on the Mughal Road there.
Witnesses said the incident occurred when Abdul Majeed Kalwal stepped out of a local Masjid after offering Fajr Salah.
“I found transmission line lying on the road and tried to keep it on the side so that somebody isn’t hurt. But the moment I touched it with the help of an insulator, I got the shock of my life,” Kalwal said.
His neighbours said the impact of the shock was such that he was thrown several feet away.
“Luck favoured and he was all safe otherwise it could have been a tragedy,” the residents said.
They accused the Power Development Department of being callous towards the area.
“The transmission network here is fragile as even the electric poles are weird,” they said.
They accused the local MLA of being indifferent towards his constituency.
“The height of the matter is that he lives barely a few hundred yards away from the spot where the line snapped,” the residents said.
