Punishing people

I completely endorse the Firdous Syed’s views in his article titled “In for chaos” (GK Oct 23). From the very beginning of this movement it was obvious that it lacks all the components necessary to achieve the desired goal. As the writer has clearly defined the four shortcomings in the agitation, let me add one more to the list "The Fatigue Syndrome". It is criminal on the part of hardliners to publish calendars for shutdowns and ask people to stock up necessary items on a  day off. These leaders must know that to purchase anything people need money. In last four months there has been negligible economic activity. For bulk of population it is not Azadi but the survival time. The leadership is punishing its own people and paving the way for the collapse of whole social, economic and political structure. It is ironic that majority of the State is suffering and the other parts are getting all the developmental work done.
