'CRPF on prowl at Rainawari crossing'
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Oct 27: Many a motorist driving down Rainawari crossing in Shahr-e-Khaas during evenings and late hours have accused the paramilitary CRPF of subjecting them to harassment.
Groups of the aggrieved people told Greater Kashmir that the troopers stationed at the spot misbehave with the drivers as well as other persons on board the vehicles.
“We were returning after attending a marriage party when around 60 troopers stopped our vehicle near Rainawari crossing, recently. The troopers stopped almost all the vehicles which passed through the spot and subjected not only the drivers but co-passengers including women to harassment,” they alleged.
“We urge the higher authorities to look into the matter and prevent harassment of people,” they said.
But police denied the allegations.
“No such report has ever come to us… There were some complaints of druggies prowling in the area and we are looking into it. But nothing against CRPF has poured in,” said a senior official posted there.
