M Y Khan to head CVPDC

Srinagar, Oct 27: The state cabinet Wednesday approved appointment of former chairman J&K Bank MY Khan as the first chairman of the newly created Chenab Valley Power Development Corporation.
Sources said the status and perks of Khan would be at par with chairman NHPC.
Under the corporation three power projects worth 2120 megawatts and costing Rs 15000 crore - 1000 mw Pakal Dul, 600 mw Kiru and 520 mw Kawar - would be set up on the Chenab basin under joint venture between NHPC and JKSPDC. As per the MoU the JKSPDC would have a share of not more than 49 percent while the NHPC would have share not less than 51 per cent in the Company.
However sources believed that under the chairmanship of Khan who holds an impressive record as former JK Bank chairman, the projects would come up in time bound manner to help the state economy grow.
Besides, some promotions at the level of chief engineers and transfers were approved by the cabinet.
