SIC selection panel meet postponed
Srinagar, Oct 27: The state government has postponed the meeting for selection of State Information Commission (SIC) chief and its members due to non-availability of opposition leader Mehbooba Mufti.
"The meeting scheduled to be held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minster Omar Abdullah for selection of members of Information Commission under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has been postponed," an official spokesman said here.
He said Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and opposition Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti were intimated to participate in the meeting.
However, the opposition leader, Mehbooba, informed that she is out of the country and cannot attend the meeting, the spokesman said.
Mehbooba has left for London on a private visit.
He said the meeting for selection of members of Information Commission has been postponed.
The PDP president hasn't attended earlier meetings to appoint heads of State Information Commission and State Accountability Commission as well.
