Ignored subject

Geographical knowledge is must. It helps understand the man-environment relationship and maintain the ecological balance. But the subject has been ignored by our educationists and policy makers. It is given less weightage which is evident from the fact that this subject is offered to students in only a few higher secondary institutions across the state. The attitude of students up to 10th standard is highly positive towards the subject, but they are rendered helpless to carry on this subject due to non-availability of the stream at 10+2 level where it is taught as just one of the subjects. The need of the hour is to incorporate this subject at 10+2 level in those the institutions where it is not taught.
