LA passes brick kiln regulation Bill

Srinagar, Oct 8: The Legislative Assembly today passed a Bill to regulate and control the establishment of brick kilns in the State (L A Bill No. 21 of 2010) with proposed amendments. The Bill was moved by Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Qamar Ali Akhoon in the House.
The House considered the Bill and passed it with the voice vote with some amendments viz the words “ The licence be deleted from sub-clause (5) of clause 6, the word “propose” in item (a) of sub-clause (6) of clause 6 be substituted by word ‘proposed”, the words “one year” wherever occurring in sub-clause (7) of clause 6 be substituted by the words “two years”, recast of clause 8, the fee for licence and the words “class of person” shall be substituted by the word “area”. The fee for grant of licence shall be Rs. 30, 000 and the renewal fee for such licences shall be Rs. 10, 000 per annum.
