Shah Anwar colony residents upset over road closure
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Oct 8: The residents of Shah Anwar Colony, Hyderpra By-Pass have expressed deep dismay over continued delay in reopening of the main road of the colony, which remains closed since more then three months now. The road was dug up for constructing a drain, which is in progress since more than two years now, the statement says.
‘It is extremely difficult as the agencies involved continuously fail to complete the work in time”, said Abdul Hameed Wani, a resident of the colony, adding “now if for some reasons they are unable to complete the work they must fill up the dug up drain so that the people could use the road”.
The residents of the colony have also expressed resentment for the inability of the concerned departments to fix the dilapidated road of the colony, which has resulted in immense inconvenience to the people, particularly to the children. The road caters to hundreds of households in the area and remains in almost unusable condition. The dug up deep drains also pose acute safety risks to the children in the area.
Pertinently, the drainage work in several colonies around the Srinagar By-Pass Road is being executed under Asian Development Bank’s Multisector Project for Infrastructure Rehabilitation in Jammu and Kashmir.
