Spend 2% of project cost on Gurez dev: Omar to NHPC
KISHENGANGA VENTURE
Srinagar, Oct 8: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah on Friday said he would ensure that National Hydroelectric Power Corporation spends two per cent of cost of Kishenganga power project for the development of the area.
Interacting with a deputation from Gurez and Jawaldara led by MLA Gurez, Nazir Ahmed Gurezi, Omar said steps would be taken for special recruitment drive in the area.
Omar was told that many families who were recently displaced due to snow-storm had not yet been settled. The chief minister said he would advise the concerned to provide land and dwelling places as done in similar cases in other parts of the valley.
He gave a patient hearing to the demands for helicopter service from Srinagar to Gurez round the year. Omar said, keeping in view the blockade of the road during winter season to Gurez, he would take up the matter at the highest level for starting the helicopter service so that people do not remain stranded during winter.
