Martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali (AS) observed
Srinagar, Sept 1: Glorious tributes were paid to Hazrat Ali (AS) on his martyrdom anniversary during numerous functions held across Kashmir.
Religious scholars threw light on the blessed life of the holy Imam, and elegies and hymns in his praise were recited by the gatherings.
Addressing a gathering at Bemina Imam Bara, Ayatollah Yousuf (RA), president Anjuman-e Sharie Shian Jammu and Kashmir, Aga Syed Muhammad Fazlullah, highlighted the different facets of Hazrat Ali’s (AS) life, and described him as one of the greatest heroes of Islam.
“The life of Hazrat Ali (AS) is a role model for all of us,” he said. “We must follow the teachings of Ali (AS) to ensure peace, love and promotion of humanity.”
Referring to the present unrest in Kashmir valley, Aga strongly condemned the spate of civilian killings in the valley.
“Civilians are getting killed under a well-hatched conspiracy,” he said. “Entire community is mourning the killings of youths who fell to bullets.”
Aga Fazlullah urged the government to put an end to this killing spree of the oppressed and subjugated Kashmir community.
He asked people to remain vigilant and don’t fall prey to nefarious designs of divuisive forces. “Sunnis and Shias must unite and defeat the enemy designs,” he said.
Addressing a gathering at Imam Bargah, Mirgund, Pattan, Chief Patron of Jammu & Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM) Maulana Muhammad Abbas Ansari, described the Imam Ali (AS) as a bold and valiant hero of Islam.
"The Imam honored the appellation from day one right up to his martyrdom, and added a glorious chapter to Islamic society by his God- given abilities, chivalry, courage and steadfastness," Ansari said.
Maulana Abbas Ansari said that Kashmiris would have to imbibe the character of the holy Imam if they were to seek deliverance from slavery to India.
Ansari described Imam Ali as the perfect human being, and said that he had never shown pride or arrogance despite his numerous incomparable feats. He said that Imam Ali's words and deeds were a practical delineation of the Holy Qur'an and the conduct of the Holy Prophet (SAW).
